Headlamp

When you need to find the perfect headlamp for your run or hike, there are some essential things to look for. How much does the headlamp weigh? Is it rechargeable and does it fit properly? Read more about headlamps on this page, see a huge selection.

Which headlamp should I choose?

A headlamp is also called a headlamp, and in English it is called a headlamp. There are headlamps for a lot of different purposes, and it can therefore be difficult to know which headlamp to choose.

On this page, we mainly write about Camino, but we have a huge passion for the whole outdoor life, and you therefore have the opportunity to find a large selection of headlamps to run and hike with. Yes, in principle some that are just good to have in yours backpack.

Some of our personal preferences when looking for which headlamp to choose include: battery life, price, strength of the light, LED, weight, fit, and whether the headlamp is rechargeable or with a battery.

How to choose the right headlamp?

If you have planned to order your headlamp on the internet, it can be a bit cumbersome to try the fit, as you can easily end up having to send your headlamp back. That is why we have tried to make a small guide on how you can choose the perfect headlamp for your next outdoor adventure or just for your everyday life.

5 things to look for when choosing a headlamp

We have listed the five most important points to consider when choosing the best headlamp for your needs.

#1 Battery life, LED and rechargeable

Those headlamps are worthless and only an inconvenience if there is no power. We have many times been exposed to our headlamps running out at critical times. That's why the battery is the first thing that comes to our mind.

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, and is largely used for all headlamps, as it has an incredibly long life. However, a headlamp must in many cases be smart and light, and therefore there is not much space for the battery. Therefore, find out whether you need more batteries in your pack, or whether you need a rechargeable headlamp.

Do you have doubts about how to pack the backpack? We have created the ultimate packing list for the Camino, which can also easily be used for other hikes.

#2 Price

It quickly becomes a really expensive pleasure to buy outdoor equipment. We have collected a large assortment of headlamps from Danish webshops, where you can look at some of the products where you can find the cheapest price for the specific headlamp you click on.

We would think that you can find an extremely reasonable headlamp in the price range of DKK 300-500. If you pay more, you can find some really good headlamps, but perhaps too much for your actual needs.

#3 Waterproof

If you're going on the Camino in the summer, you probably don't need a waterproof headlamp. But when you are from Denmark, where it rains on average 171 days a year, it is naturally often a wise choice to buy a waterproof headlamp.

#4 fit and weight

We have tried very heavy headlamps that shone like a dream but were unbearable to wear. Then we had light running headlamps that didn't light up the road enough at all. If you're going to use your headlamp for running, the fit and weight are really important, whereas if you're going to use it for reading at the hostel it might not be as high a priority.

In general, we prefer very light headlamps with good elastic that goes both around and over the head.

#5 Quality and brightness

As we just mentioned in the point before, not all headlamps light up strongly enough for one's needs. Quality often depends on both the price and the brand that developed the headlamp. It is therefore a good idea to do thorough research on the headlamps that meet our five considerations for finding the best headlamp.

Rechargeable headlamp

If you choose to find a rechargeable headlamp, it is clearly our recommendation that you find one with a charger that is also used for your other devices. It can be a lot easier to have a small extra battery in your backpack versus an extra charger.

You fill yours quickly hiking backpack  with too many chargers and it can become a worse mess. In general, however, we would recommend a rechargeable headlamp if you use it often.

LED Headlamp

An LED headlamp can quickly become part of your top 3 list when packing your backpack. Virtually all headlamps the good outdoor stores sell are today LED headlamps. LED stands for Light Emitting Diode, and gives the headlamps a really good battery life.

That's why you need a headlamp

Are you in doubt as to whether you should buy a headlamp? We can understand that. You quickly end up buying far too many unnecessary things when you go out to experience the world. There are many good reasons to buy a headlamp. They give freedom to your hands, and of course the main feature is that you can see better in the dark with a headlamp.

Many people use their headlamps both when they have to read in a hostel or in the tent, and at the same time when they get up at night and it is dark. Outdoor people spend a lot of time outside when it's dark. If you get up early or have late nights, then a headlamp can quickly be something for you.

Many people also choose to use the flashlight on their phone, which can be a very good alternative if you have a lot of luggage or rarely move around in the dark.
